Eliot-Hine Middle School is a 6th - 8th grade Middle school located in NE, Washington DC. We are an International Baccalaureate (IB) MYP school. Important Application Update

DCPS is pleased to announce a plan of differentiated compensation for long-term substitute teachers for the SY 2022-2023! This shift in compensation is intended to acknowledge the critical role substitutes play in DCPS’ ongoing recovery efforts and everyday support needed for our schools.

“Long-term” substitutes are defined as substitute teachers who work thirty consecutive days in one or a series of assignments. They will receive a higher rate of pay ($200/full day) beginning on the thirty-first day of continuous service. Please note that if there is a break in service of six business days or more, your status would revert to the standard rate of pay of $160/full day and you will need to accumulate 30 consecutive days of work in one or a series of assignments in order to again receive the long-term substitute teacher rate.

Long-term assignments must be accepted in SmartFind Express, DCPS’s absence management system. Once you have been fully onboarded as a substitute teacher, you will gain access to seek long-term opportunities within our schools!

DCPS has remained committed to the health and safety of our school community. DCPS recently shared some reopening updates related school year 2021-2022. Specifically, those updates contained details around phasing into in-person learning at all schools beginning August 30, 2021. As such, all substitute teachers will be expected to fully engage with DCPS’s technology resources both in-person and on virtual platforms to instruct students. Additionally, the steps in our hiring process which were previously completed in-person have migrated to a virtual platform. Please review the hiring process below.
